It was 20 December 2011 night, the night for students of English Department Semarang State University to perform drama in B6 building. All of them played their characters brilliantly, capturing the audiences’ attention in a way that glued the audiences to their seats. The music, lighting, stage and costumes worked in unity to make each scene become interesting and beautiful to see.

The first performance was Narnia: Warrior, White World, and the Wardrobe. It told about the fight between goodness and evil that was inflicted by love and betrayal. Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy entered a new world they never imagined before, which was called Narnia. There, they had to fight with an evil woman, a White Witch. Finally, they won the battle after a series of conflicts between themselves and the help from Aslan. Presenting the most elaborate stage setting, properties, and well-directed play, that was a nice performance to open this event.

The second performance entitled Gatotkaca: From Hero to Zero. This half an hour play was about Gatotkaca, a living weapon created by Batara Guru, who was looking for his identity. He is the “wire muscle-iron bone” that could only be hurt by a weapon created by the Gods to end his life when he had accomplished all of his tasks in the world. Added a touch of Javanese Culture and substantial musical elements into the play, made this performance was really special.

The last performance was Eternal Journey through the Decade. It was about a journey of the four heroes, Tong Sam Chong, Sun Go Kong, Pat Kai and Wu Ching. The loss of the Holy Scripture drags them into a new journey through the new world where they meet several miraculous people. Different from previous performances, this play showed that theatrical play could be serious and fun and the same time

This drama event was designated to facilitate students’ talents in creative work, so that they could more appreciate literary works. Moreover, since this event, from beginning until the end, was prepared fully by the students themselves, they could learn a lot from the play, both as dramatists and event organizers.
